Tyler Perry: At the Right Time, God Will Reveal You

I recently came across a very enlightening video posted on Facebook by Tyler Perry where he speaks openly about the advantages of not always being in the spotlight. This phenomenal actor, producer, and director explains that "sometimes you're meant to be hidden." Check out the video and see what he means.

I Need to Be Delivered from… (Season of Lent)

For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I want to do, I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do…But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

There are many of us who have decided to give up bad habits or something significant to us for the season of Lent. At one time or another during the next 40 days, we are going to encounter struggle with something we decided to sacrifice in hopes of drawing closer to God.

I Don’t Feel Like Praying for Him…or Her. So Now What?

There may be many moments in your days where you honestly can’t bring yourself to pray for your significant other; or someone else you love who seems to stay stagnant no matter how much you talk to God about him…or her.

Every Way of a Man is Right in His Own Eyes

The quality of our lives most often depend on the decisions we make. Frequently in life something may seem like a good idea at the time for many of us; but usually it isn’t. The consequences of those wrong decisions will ultimately come back to bite us in the end.

Injustice Files: Modern Day Lynching in the United States?

Last night after I returned from my Zumba class, I was ready to shower, cuddle up in the bed next to my husband, and watch something new and interesting on my favorite channel—Investigation Discovery. I was not expecting to witness this new show, however. It left me tossing and turning for a while before I finally drifted off to sleep.

I Get So Emotional…Every Time I Think of You Whitney Houston

On February 11, 2012 we all lost a great remarkable and iconic singer and actress. This was stunning news for the music industry, but it was also very upsetting news for me personally. That’s because from this point on, every year on this particular day, not only will I be celebrating another year with my wonderful husband (our anniversary) but I will definitely remember that this is also the day we lost Whitney Houston…

When Do You Need to Show Him Some Respect?

“Let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
The instructions above taken from Ephesians 5:33 (NIV) are very enlightening and useful.  God makes it very clear in these words that not only are men supposed to love their wife, but the wives are supposed to respect their husband. Above all, a man desires respect just the same as a woman desires to be loved.

That Curse over Your Life is Broken: Are You Willing to Move On?

How many of you are scared of your future? Maybe because you’re afraid of your past coming back to perhaps wreck your life. I know many, like me, who come from a dysfunctional past, are relentlessly striving to change the present so that the future won’t be affected by varying generational curses. We all are striving to make our future better, some more than others. Some are simply trying to break those soul ties that bind us to who we were “back then.”

Thank God I'm Not God

Last week I had an especially long day at work. In law enforcement, I am often subjected to constant complaints from people that are over exaggerating in an effort to manipulate the system to their advantage. On this particular day I was witness to hours of this. So when I came home I was ready to unwind and get some rest. However, my son had different plans.

Lessons in Love: Is Marriage a Testing Ground?

“Marriage is one of the true testing grounds for what is in all of us.”

I came across this quote by Stormie Omartian while reading a great book dedicated to helping wives find power in prayer. I absolutely agree with her. I’m learning that marriage is a testing ground and guess what? I am determined to ace this test.
